The Harbinger

About a young woman who travels to New York to help out an old friend; creepy shenanigans ensue when it becomes clear that something sinister is afoot.  Featuring solid direction from writer/director/editor/composer Andy Mitton (yeah, the man wears a lot of hats), the film does a great job of combining character drama and slow-burn horror.  It’s certainly not in a rush, but the characters are all so well drawn and endearing that this never feels like an issue.  Mitton also excels at infusing the film with an effective sense of simmering dread, and when the scares come, they’re quite effective; there are a handful of legitimately creepy set-pieces here.
