Confession

About a man and his lawyer trying to get to the truth about a murder, Confession starts a bit slow (and is probably a touch longer than it needs to be at 105 minutes), but picks up fairly quickly. Director Yoon Jong-seok does a really good job of keeping the pacing consistent despite the flashback-heavy narrative; it could have felt disjointed, but it never does. It helps that the film is very well acted, with great performances from So Ji-sub and Yunjin Kim in the two central roles. And while the movie’s slow-burn opening is effective enough, it’s the twist-heavy second half that really connects.
