Anything For Jackson
About a couple of aging Satanists who quickly find themselves in over their heads when they try to bring back their beloved grandson from the dead, Anything For Jackson is, for the most part, a fun ride. It has some nice low-key style from director Justin G. Dyck (who’s weirdly prolific, directing around six movies a year with titles like Christmas with a Prince and Love by Accident) and features a bunch of solid performances, particularly Sheila McCarthy and Julian Richings as the older couple. But something about it always feels vaguely off — it’s never quite as tense or as creepy as it’s clearly trying to be. Still, it’s entertaining throughout, and offers a fun twist on the Satanic horror genre.
