Yummy

You’ve seen Yummy before. Even if you haven’t seen Yummy, you’ve seen Yummy. About the zombie shenanigans that ensue at a sketchy Eastern European hospital specializing in discount plastic surgery, the film does absolutely nothing new with the zombie comedy formula. Which is fine — if a movie just wants to be a fun zombie romp, there’s nothing wrong with that. But the extent to which Yummy lacks anything even remotely resembling an interesting character, an original idea, or any kind of spark is thoroughly dispiriting. There’s a lot of over-the-top gore, but it’s very hard to care about any of it when the characters are all so thin and bland, and the plot is so routine. The film is just a tedious cavalcade of generic zombie mayhem and ill-advised gross-out humour. It’s not even remotely as fun as it’s trying to be.
