The Zone of Interest
As many holocaust movies as there have been (hundreds? Thousands?), The Zone of Interest feels wholly unique. The film focuses on the family of a concentration camp administrator who live right next door to the camp, and is largely focused on the mundanity of their everyday lives, with the camp itself being a grim backdrop to their daily routines. There’s something quite striking about the way the movie unfolds; it’s impeccably made and powerful in spots, but I also feel like it went over my head a little bit. Yeah, I get it, the banality of evil and all that. And?
