Perdida
The Fantasia guide compares Perdida to both Hitchcock and De Palma, which is a bit of a stretch (and it’s not even remotely as good as the best films by either director), but I guess it’s in the same ballpark. About a conductor who begins an affair with a young waitress days after his wife’s disappearance, the film has a decent amount of style and is (mostly) compelling throughout. It’s probably a bit flabbier than it needs to be, however, and it does eventually start to lose momentum and drag a bit. But there’s a moment about halfway through that completely reinvigorates the film (trust me when I say you’ll know it when you see it), and from there it’s a fun ride for the remainder.
