Lady and the Tramp
Directed by Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, and Wilfred Jackson, Lady and the Tramp details the friendship/romance that eventually forms between the title canines. Filmmakers Luske, Geronimi, and Jackson deliver a lackadaisically-paced yet predominantly rewarding animated endeavor that benefits from its eye-popping visuals and stirring voice performances, and it’s clear, too, that the picture’s success is cemented by an increasingly absorbing second half rife with memorable digressions and set-pieces – with this particularly true of an impressively tense sequence involving a malevolent rat and a helpless baby. And while the movie sporadically seems to be straining to fill its 76 minute runtime, Lady and the Tramp does, for the most part, come off as a solid piece of work that lives up to its place as a classic Disney release.
