Special Delivery

About a driver who specializes in not-so-legal deliveries, Special Delivery starts out really well, with a thrilling opening sequence that has an intriguing gender-swapped Transporter vibe; alas, the movie quickly settles into a more familiar Korean crime thriller groove. It’s fine — it’s well put together by writer/director Park Dae-min, and features a charismatic lead performance from Park So-dam, not to mention a handful of very fun car chases. But the pacing sags a bit between the action, and probably would have benefited from focusing more on Park So-dam’s character rather than constantly cutting to the corrupt cops who are after her (and another group of cops, for some reason?).

**1/2 out of ****
